What should parents do when their child has a cold sore?
WHAT TO DO WHEN MY CHILD HAS A MOTHER HEAT?
Summer is the season of many fruits such as jackfruit, lychee, mango, etc., especially with a sweet taste that children love. However, giving your baby a lot of hot fruit often leads to a baby's mouth sores.
Canker sores often appear in places such as lips, tongue, cheeks, gums... Causing ulcers, pain and making children feel uncomfortable, difficult to eat, leading to anorexia and loss of appetite.
To help your child relieve pain from canker sores, you can do the following:
1. Add foods rich in vitamins and minerals
Supplementing with nutritious foods rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamins B, C, zinc, iron found in daily foods such as lentils, red meat, spinach, spinach, bananas, avocados, soups ignore…
In addition to providing nutrition for children through daily dishes, you can also give them vitamins such as multivitamins , iron, and zinc. To fully meet the needs and nutrients of children.
2. Drink plenty of water (filtered water, fruit juice, milk, etc.)
Lack of water in the body is a factor that causes mouth sores in children. So you need to make sure your child drinks enough water every day.
– You can rely on the following formula to calculate the amount of water for your child:
+ Children from 1-10kg: 100ml/kg body weight
+ Children from 11-20kg: 1,000ml/10kg head + 50ml/kg/1kg extra weight
+ Children from 21kg and over: 1500ml/20kg first + 20ml/1kg extra weight
For example: 11kg baby needs about 100 x 10 + 50 = 1,050ml/day
– Can make juice for children such as: carrot juice, tomato juice, orange juice, centella asiatica juice, ..
Note: Do not give children <1 year old pure juice, so dilute the juice with a little filtered water in the right ratio.
3. Yogurt
Not only delicious and nutritious, yogurt also contains many beneficial bacteria that fight harmful bacteria in the baby's oral cavity. Accelerate wound healing, reduce burning sensation
4. Keep your child's teeth clean
- Let the child gargle with warm water or diluted salt water about 4 times a day, this will help the child's oral cavity to be clean and limit the growth of bacteria.
**Note: Avoid giving your child foods such as:
– Fried foods, greasy foods (fried chicken, french fries…) are often hard and crunchy when eaten, easily bumping into more serious injuries.
Foods high in sugar (candy, cake, ...) eating sweets cause tooth decay, making it easier for bacteria to penetrate, making wounds infected and slow to heal.
– Hot spicy foods: do not put spices such as ginger, chili, pepper, garlic ... in your child's dishes to avoid ulcers that take longer to heal and cause more pain.
– Salty and sour foods: You should give your child foods with heat-clearing properties (spinach, zucchini, carrots, etc.). Avoid eating salty and sour foods, so that the condition of canker sores will decrease and not recur.
